THIS IS HOW YOU GET GREAT

You harness the creative process.

You can call it the art of starting and stopping. This is what the process consists of for me: the ebb and the flow.

I say, start before you're ready because even if you don't publish your first thoughts, writing them down is like planting seeds. The tree will grow in time.

With that in mind, you need to stop. Remind yourself not to set your expectations too high. Do what you can and not more.

Now, you're ready to re-start. Is your writing flowing? Is it a pleasure to sit down with no distractions, and just write? Or, do you find it gets harder as time passes? If so, stop again. There may be a limiting belief behind the delays. A limiting belief is usually someone else's disbelief in the power of words (or, your words, specifically) that introduces doubt into your mind. Take a minute to realise that it has nothing to do with your actual work and... you're ready to start to get back to it.

Stop when you fall short of research. Have you browsed enough? Feeling confident yet? Start again.

Stop. A new idea has come. A new character, perhaps? Consider. Take time. One character too many? Clouds the view? Distracts? Scrap that. Ready to start.

Stop. Is the end in sight?
